The device is compliant with PV standard EN50539-11. The din rail mounted SPD is widely used in solar combiner boxes to protect the solar panels and inverters from surges in voltage and lightning. The protection method is high energy Varistor.
The risk of over-voltage is direct (lightning impact) or indirect effect (over-voltage on solar panels, inverter and other connections.
DC network: surge protectors are necessary, sometimes mandatory, on the continuous network in between the modules and the PV inverter
