Description
xHoymiles HMS-800-2WB 800W Dual MPPT Plug-In Solar Microinverter with WiFi and 5m UK Cable
The Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB is a single phase 800VA microinverter from the HiFlow Pro series, built to run two solar panels on two independent MPPT inputs. It is designed for small residential solar PV systems on balconies, terraces, garden structures and outbuildings.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built in, so the inverter talks directly to the S-Miles Home app without a separate DTU gateway. It is supplied with a 5m plug and play cable fitted with a UK Type G plug.
Key Features
- Rated output of 800VA (3.48A) at 230V AC, single phase.
- Two independent MPPT inputs, one panel per input, suited to modules of 320 to 540W and above.
- MPPT voltage range of 16 to 60V, with a maximum input current of 14A per input.
- Peak efficiency of 96.7% and nominal MPPT efficiency of 99.8%.
- Built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for cloud monitoring and local commissioning, with no DTU required.
- IP67 outdoor enclosure with natural convection cooling and no fans.
- Galvanically isolated high frequency transformer and integrated rapid shutdown.
- Meets the ETSI EN 303 645 cybersecurity standard for connected devices.
Product Overview
Each input has its own MPPT tracker, so the two panels are optimised separately. This matters where the panels face different directions or one is shaded for part of the day: the weaker panel does not drag down the output of the other.
The inverter converts the DC from both panels into 230V AC at 50Hz and delivers it to the property's AC supply through the 5m Flex-S3 plug and play cable. Night consumption is below 50mW, and the unit is rated to operate in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +65°C.
Through the S-Miles Home app you can watch real-time output, configure system settings and manage the system from your smartphone. The enclosure measures 261 x 180 x 35.1mm and weighs 3.2kg, so it can be mounted close to the panels on the same frame or structure.
Applications
- Balcony and terrace solar systems with two panels
- Garden, shed and garage roof installations
- Small residential systems where the two panels face different directions
- Grid-connected homes looking to reduce daytime electricity use
What Is Included
- 1 x Hoymiles HMS-800-2WB 800W dual MPPT microinverter
- 1 x 5m plug and play AC cable with UK Type G plug
Installation and Safety Notes
Although the HMS-800-2WB is designed for plug and play connection, any solar generator connected to a UK property's electrical supply must meet BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and the requirements of the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO). We recommend installation by a qualified electrician or MCS certified installer, who can check the circuit, earthing and protection, and handle any DNO notification that applies.
Connect only PV modules within the DC ratings: maximum input voltage 65V, maximum input current 14A and maximum short circuit current 25A per input. Check that the open circuit voltage of each panel at the lowest expected temperature stays below 65V.
The enclosure is rated IP67 and is suitable for outdoor mounting. Fit it in a ventilated position with space around it for natural cooling, keep the AC plug and socket protected from rain, and never connect the inverter through an extension lead or multi-way adaptor. This is a grid-connected PV microinverter; it is not designed for off-grid systems or direct battery connection.
