Description
xVictron Inverter 24/1600 230V VE.Direct SCHUKO
The Victron Inverter 24/1600 converts power from a 24 V battery bank into 230 V 50 Hz AC. It delivers 1,450 W continuous at 25 °C and 2,100 W peak, which suits off-grid cabins, vehicles and backup systems running mains appliances from batteries. AC output is through a Schuko (CEE 7/4) socket, and the VE.Direct port lets you configure and monitor the unit.
Key Features
- Continuous output of 1,450 W at 25 °C and 1,300 W at 40 °C, with a 2,100 W peak rating for motor and compressor start-up loads.
- Maximum efficiency of 91 %.
- ECO mode reduces no-load consumption from 14 W to 2 W. The stop/start power threshold is adjustable.
- Dynamic low DC shutdown adjusts the cut-off point to the load, so the battery is protected without nuisance trips under heavy draw.
- VE.Direct communication port for configuration and monitoring. The inverter is fully programmable.
- Two-pole screw terminal for a remote on/off switch.
- Protection against output short-circuit, overload, high and low battery voltage, over temperature and excessive DC ripple.
- Rated operating temperature range of -40 °C to 65 °C.
- Tested to automotive directive ECE R10-4 for vehicle installations.
Product Overview
Continuous power drops as temperature rises: the unit gives 1,450 W at 25 °C and 1,300 W at 40 °C. In a hot engine bay, a van or an enclosed battery locker, size the load against the 40 °C figure. The 2,100 W peak rating covers the short inrush current of fridges, pumps and power tools.
Idle draw matters in small off-grid systems. At 14 W, an inverter left switched on uses about 336 Wh a day with nothing connected. In ECO mode the inverter drops to 2 W and checks for a load every 2.5 seconds, then switches on fully when a load above the set threshold appears. Set the threshold to suit the smallest load you need to run.
The DC input range is 18.4 V to 34 V. Low voltage shutdown is at 18.6 V, and the inverter restarts (or raises an alarm) at 21.8 V. With dynamic low DC shutdown, the cut-off point moves with the load. This avoids early shutdowns caused by voltage sag at high current and still protects the battery at light loads. You can change these settings over VE.Direct to match lithium or lead-acid batteries.

Applications
- Campervans, motorhomes and conversion vans with a 24 V house battery, running 230 V appliances such as kettles, laptops and small kitchen equipment.
- Off-grid cabins and workshops with a 24 V solar battery bank.
- Commercial and utility vehicles that need 230 V on board for tools or equipment.
- Boats with a 24 V DC system, when the inverter is mounted in a dry, protected location.
- Battery backup for selected 230 V loads in remote monitoring or telecoms cabinets.
Installation Notes
Use this inverter only with a 24 V battery system. The battery terminals take cable up to 25 mm² (4 AWG). Size the DC cabling and fusing for the full input current at peak load, and keep the cable run short. The output is a Schuko (CEE 7/4) socket, so UK BS 1363 plugs need a suitable adaptor or a hardwired distribution arrangement. The enclosure is rated IP21 and must be mounted in a dry, ventilated location. This is a standalone inverter. Do not connect it to the grid or to a building's fixed wiring without proper isolation and earthing. Have the battery and AC wiring installed by a qualified electrician, particularly in vehicles, boats and fixed off-grid systems.
