Description
xConversol 8kW IP52 Off-Grid Inverter 48V with Zero Transfer Time and MPPT Solar Charger
The Conversol 8kW IP52 is a 48V pure sine wave off-grid inverter and charger built for loads that cannot afford to drop out. When the grid fails or goes out of tolerance, it switches to battery power with zero transfer time, so computers, servers, routers, CCTV and other sensitive equipment keep running without a restart.
A high voltage MPPT solar charger accepts up to 12,000W of PV, the 120A charger refills the battery bank quickly from solar or mains, and a touchscreen display with built-in Wi-Fi makes set-up and daily monitoring straightforward.
Key Features
- Zero transfer time: 0 ms changeover from mains to battery mode, keeping sensitive loads running through a power cut.
- 8000W continuous output: 8000VA/8000W of 230VAC pure sine wave power from a 48V battery bank.
- High voltage MPPT solar input: up to 12,000W of PV across two inputs (30A each, 45A combined), with a 60 to 450VDC MPPT range and 500VDC maximum open circuit voltage.
- Fast charging: up to 120A from solar and up to 120A from the grid or a generator.
- Dual AC outputs: the second output can be scheduled on and off, or switched by battery voltage, SOC or discharge time, so non-essential loads drop off first.
- Touchscreen HMI and Wi-Fi: touch-sensitive LCD panel plus integrated Wi-Fi and app monitoring with daily, monthly and yearly data.
- Parallel ready: expand up to 12 units, with central monitoring and an optional remote panel.
- IP52 enclosure with protective coating: dust-protected and resistant to dripping water, with an anti-dust and anti-moisture coating on the electronics.
Product Overview
Most off-grid inverters take several milliseconds to switch from mains to battery, which is enough to restart a PC, drop a network connection or interrupt a process. The Conversol 8kW IP52 is designed to switch with zero transfer time, so connected equipment does not notice the change. In normal operation, it runs at up to 94% efficiency in line mode, 98% in ECO mode and 93% on battery.
The built-in MPPT charger handles modern high-current solar panels across two PV inputs, and the inverter can charge the battery from solar, the grid or a generator. Live Firmware Update (LFU) allows the software to be updated without interrupting the AC output, and the no-load current is kept below 1A to reduce standing losses on battery.
For larger systems, up to 12 units can run in parallel. The central monitoring design lets you view data for a single inverter or the whole system, including PV, battery and grid information, from the display or an optional remote panel. Communication ports include USB, RS232, RS485, Wi-Fi and a dry contact.
What IP52 means: the first digit (5) means the enclosure is dust protected, so a small amount of dust may enter but not enough to affect operation. The second digit (2) means it is protected against water dripping vertically when the unit is tilted up to 15 degrees. IP52 is water resistant to drips only. It is not waterproof and must not be exposed to rain, spray, jet washing or standing water.
Applications
- Off-grid homes, cabins and holiday lets running on solar and battery storage
- Backup power for home offices, IT equipment, servers and network cabinets
- Small commercial premises where computers, tills or CCTV must stay online
- Farms, workshops and outbuildings without a reliable grid supply
- Solar and generator hybrid systems with a 48V battery bank
- Larger off-grid systems built from up to 12 units in parallel
What Is Included
- 1x Conversol 8kW IP52 off-grid inverter
Installation and Safety Notes
This inverter must be installed by a qualified electrician or MCS certified solar installer, in line with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) in the UK. The battery, PV and AC connections all need correctly sized cables, fusing, DC and AC isolation, surge protection and earthing.
The unit is rated IP52. Install it indoors or in a dry, sheltered location such as a garage, plant room or weatherproof outbuilding, away from direct rain, spray and condensation. It is not suitable for exposed outdoor mounting. Operating temperature is -10°C to 50°C at 5% to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing). Keep the ventilation clearances around the case free.
The inverter runs on a 48V battery bank. Check battery and BMS compatibility, charge voltages and charge current limits with your battery supplier before commissioning. PV open circuit voltage must never exceed 500VDC at the coldest expected temperature.
This is an off-grid inverter. It is not designed to export power to the grid. DNO approval is not required
