Description
xStäubli MC4-Evo 2 Solar Connector Pair 4-6mm² 1500V Pack of 10
This pack gives you ten pairs of the Original Stäubli MC4-Evo 2, the connector the MC4 name comes from. Each male and female pair is made for 4mm² and 6mm² solar PV cable, rated to 1500V DC and up to 53A, and uses Stäubli's MULTILAM contact technology for a consistently low contact resistance over the life of the array. It is a practical stock quantity for installers who want the genuine connector at every joint in the string, at a lower cost per pair than buying singles.

Product Overview
Almost every watt your panels produce passes through a connector, and connectors spend decades under modules and on rooftops through heat, frost, rain and UV. A poorly made or badly crimped connector can develop rising contact resistance over time. That means heat, power loss and, in the worst case, a melted connector and a fault that is costly to find on a finished roof. Choosing the original connector at installation costs pennies compared with tracing a failed joint later.
MC4 is Stäubli's own connection system. The MC4-Evo 2 uses MULTILAM contacts, spring-loaded louvres that keep many contact points pressed against the pin, so resistance stays low and stable through years of thermal cycling. The copper contacts are tin plated and the housing is UL94-V0 rated PA.
Ten pairs covers the string terminations and extension leads on a typical multi-string system, with spares for the van. Every connector is ready to crimp onto 4mm² or 6mm² PV cable, the locking system holds each mated pair together until it is deliberately released, and once mated the connection is rated IP65 and IP68, suitable for installation under modules, on roofs and on ground-mounted arrays.
Applications
- Solar panel string connections
- Making up PV extension leads with 4mm² or 6mm² cable
- Connecting strings to inverters, charge controllers and combiner boxes
- Replacing damaged or non-original connectors on existing arrays
- Installer van stock for residential, commercial and ground-mounted PV systems up to 1500V DC
What Is Included
- 10x Stäubli MC4-Evo 2 female connector (socket) for 4 to 6mm² cable, with contact
- 10x Stäubli MC4-Evo 2 male connector (plug) for 4 to 6mm² cable, with contact
- Cable and crimping tool are not included
Installation and Safety Notes
Installation should be carried out by a qualified solar installer or electrician. Crimp the contacts with the crimping tool specified by Stäubli for this contact size and follow Stäubli assembly instructions MA298, available from staubli.com. Check that your cable's outer diameter suits the connector's cable gland, as an incorrect crimp or a gland that does not grip the cable will compromise both the electrical connection and the IP rating.
Never connect or disconnect under load. Isolate the DC circuit with a suitable DC isolator before working on any string. Mate only with connectors from the Stäubli MC4 connector family, as mixing brands is not covered by Stäubli's certification. Unmated connectors are IP2X only, so fit sealing caps to any connector left unmated outdoors. The complete system must use correctly sized cable, suitable overcurrent protection, isolation and surge protection, and comply with BS 7671 and local regulations.
