Early Voltacon solar installations, 2016 to 2019

These are four of the earliest Voltacon installations, originally published as separate notes between 2016 and 2019 and collected here in one place.

A solar park with dual axis trackers, Greece

Our first solar park used dual axis trackers built around an unusual idea: a single 500 watt induction motor driving movement in both axes, rather than one motor per axis. Voltacon designed and installed 15 trackers, each carrying 10kW of capacity, fitted with 235W photovoltaic modules.

The work included excavating canals for underground power cables, laying solar cable rated for underground use at a depth of one metre, and a medium voltage substation on site.

Off grid inverters on Mount Athos

Athoniada School and monasteries on the Holy Mount Athos run on Voltacon power generation equipment. It is a demanding setting for off grid supply and we were glad to be trusted with it.

A Conversol off grid installation in Italy

Fiore Zanfir sent us photographs of his own Conversol off grid inverter installation in Italy. Customer installations like this one tell us more about how the equipment behaves in the field than any amount of bench testing.

Solar on our own warehouse roof

When we finished our own warehouse we fitted 16 Eging PV 310W monocrystalline panels to the roof, using the Easy Plan aluminium mounting system. It needs no drilling into the roof, which keeps the installation simple and the roof watertight.
